The ride
Embark on an epic 360° cycling adventure around Mount Kilimanjaro — Africa's tallest peak. Ride an e-bike or standard mountain bike through lush forests, rolling hills and vibrant tribal villages for a truly unforgettable Tanzanian adventure.
The unforgettable experience of the 360° cycling ride around the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro reveals all the diversity of Tanzanian nature and culture. Rural roads take you deep into the wildlife and dense forest, and through the local life of villages of different tribes.

Loved by riders worldwide
Our guide and driver, Roger and Octavian, were super — extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, patient and prepared for anything. This entire outfit is top of the line, from start to finish. We couldn't have imagined a better first couple of days in Tanzania.
You will never regret booking a cycling tour with One Bike Tanzania! Hillary and his staff are amazing, and they will do everything they can to make sure your adventure is perfect for you — whether you want an extreme challenge, to explore places most tourists never see, or just to enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace.
Just had the most amazing trip with One Bike Tanzania, with my guide Roger! Not only do they offer bike tours, they actually carry out activities for sustainable tourism, including collecting trash. All staff are kind, professional and highly motivated.
A once-in-a-lifetime view of Tanzania. Hillary will modify the itinerary from an extreme physical challenge to a leisurely paced exploration. We cycled in parts of Tanzania where typical tourists never go — seeing giraffe and zebra just off the path, riding past Maasai villages and welcoming towns.

Ride with purpose
One Bike Tanzania is a community-first social enterprise. A portion of every trip goes straight back into local cycling — donating bikes, training young mechanics and guides, and cleaning up Moshi on two wheels.

Good to know
The questions we answer almost every week, written out properly so you do not have to ask them.
We rate the ride intermediate. If you ride a bike regularly at home and are comfortable spending a few hours in the saddle, you are in the right place.
You ride on 7 of the 9 days, covering roughly 345 km with about 4,500 m of climbing in total. Days range from a 30 km warm-up to an 80 km final push, so steady stamina counts for much more than speed.
A support vehicle travels with the group the whole way, so you can jump in whenever you feel tired, and your guide sets the pace of the group rather than the other way around. Tell us about your riding when you request a spot — we would rather know in advance.
Yes, it does. A pedal-assist e-bike adds power when the road tips upwards, so the climbs stop being the thing you dread. You still pedal every kilometre. The mountain only feels smaller.
It is also how riders with different fitness levels ride the same route together, which is why couples and mixed groups often take one of each.
A hardtail mountain bike is included in the USD 2,999 price. An e-bike is a $280 supplement for the trip — mention it when you request your spot and we will confirm availability before anything is booked.
A quality Giant hardtail mountain bike and a helmet are included, serviced in our own workshop in Moshi. You can upgrade to a full-suspension bike for $20 per day, or to an e-bike for $280 for the trip.
On day one you meet your guide, visit the shop for a bike check and get fitted before the riding starts. Personal cycling gear is not included, so bring your own kit:
What to pack
The Tour de Kilimanjaro is USD 2,999 per person. A single supplement is $150 per trip if you would like your own room. Early bird discount may apply.

You start by requesting a spot on the reserve page. That request is free and it does not commit you to anything. There is no online card payment on this site.
One Bike reads every request personally and replies within a day or two to confirm the departure is open. Only then do we arrange the deposit and payment details with you directly, once you are happy with the plan.
If you would rather talk it through first, message us on WhatsApp at +255 659 23 11 36 or email onebiketz@gmail.com.
Individuals, couples and groups are all welcome. Prefer different dates or a private departure? Tell us and we'll tailor an offer for you.
Solo riders join a scheduled group departure and ride with everyone else, which is how most friendships on this trip start. Couples, friends, clubs and companies can take a whole departure privately.
Accommodation along the route is included, on a full-board basis for every night except the final morning, which is breakfast only.
You stay in a different place as the route moves around the mountain: Kilemakyaro Hotel, Marangu Hotel, Maktau Mountain Lodge, Snowcap Cottages, Simba Farm Lodge and Osiligilai Maasai Lodge. Night seven is in a Maasai lodge on the plains of West Kilimanjaro, which is a highlight of the trip for most riders.
No. This is a 360° ride around the base of Kilimanjaro, not a summit climb. You will see the mountain from every side, but you are riding roads and tracks rather than trekking to the top.
There is no summit push, no technical climbing and no acclimatisation programme to follow. There are real climbs — the biggest single day gains about 900 m — which is exactly what the e-bike option is there for.
A good deal, and from the saddle rather than through a window. The western side of the route crosses a corridor between Amboseli National Park in Kenya and Kilimanjaro National Park that large herds of elephants use to move between the two.
Riders regularly see giraffes — in numbers not even seen inside the national parks — along with zebras, wildebeest, gazelles and impalas, plus monkeys and a lot of birdlife in the forest sections.
Our scheduled group departures are 17 – 25 January 2027, 7 – 15 February 2027, 13 – 21 June 2027, 19 – 27 July 2027 and 8 – 16 August 2027.
If those dates do not suit you, tell us which months you can travel. We will give you an honest view of what the roads and the weather are doing then, and tailor a private departure around it.
Insurance is not included in the price, so please arrange your own travel insurance before you come and check that it covers cycling.
Your visa is your own responsibility too. Check the current entry requirements for Tanzania for your nationality well ahead of your trip, and ask us if anything is unclear.
