Le Tour de Kili

The people behind the ride

One Bike Tanzania

A community-first social enterprise in Moshi. We guide the Tour de Kilimanjaro, and the trips you book fund cycling projects at home.

Our story

Bicycles open doors

One Bike Tanzania was built in Moshi, at the foot of Kilimanjaro, on a simple idea: a bicycle changes what a person can reach.

A bike gets a student to school. It gets a family to the hospital. It gets women in rural villages to the services, work and income they otherwise cannot reach. Around this mountain a bicycle is not a lifestyle choice, it is daily life.

So the company was set up to work both ways. Visitors come to ride roads that most travellers never see. A portion of every trip goes straight back into local cycling projects: bikes donated to rural families, a pump track in the village of Kahe, and a workshop that trains young mechanics and guides.

That is what makes this ride different. It is not a tour with a charity bolted on. The people who welcome you are the same people the work is for.

I dedicate my life to improving mobility for the Tanzanian community and promoting responsible tourism through a sustainable two-wheeled lifestyle.

Our workshop

Real riders, real local experts

The One Bike Shop in Moshi is the heart of the operation. Mechanics on the tools, spare parts on the shelves, and the Giant fleet lined up against the wall.

Every bike that goes out on the Tour de Kilimanjaro is serviced here before it leaves and checked again when it comes back. Nine days around a mountain is hard on a drivetrain, so nothing rolls out untouched.

The workshop is also a school. Since 2019 it has trained young Tanzanians in bicycle repair and mechanic skills, and it trains the next generation of cycling guides. That is where our guides come from.
